Who We Are

Since 2019, Reggie Rap's Room has grown from an award-winning hip-hop theater production into an expanding universe of immersive experiences, educational resources, and a live-action series.

At the center of it all is the character Reggie "Rap" Unzel III, an aspiring rapper who invites families into his world where creativity and curiosity lead the way.

Reggie Rap's Room blends hip-hop, theater for young audiences (TYA), and restorative play to turn social-emotional learning into tangible, real-world experiences. From the interactive Affirmation Station music booth to global education summits, the series meets families where they are with culturally grounded tools for resilience and joy.

Because joy and creativity aren't extra. They're essential.

Jeremy Rashad Brown

The creative force behind Reggie Rap's Room is Jeremy Rashad Brown, a queer, Black multidisciplinary artist, storyteller, and founder of NEO GRIOT, a creative studio rooted in care, connection, and community.

His work spans film, stage, education, and live experiences, earning recognition from organizations like SXSW EDU, AfroTech, and The Kennedy Center. Through projects like Reggie Rap's Room, Jeremy uses his gift of storytelling to build ambitious, community-rooted spaces that treat radical joy as a tool for collective wellness.

Our Impact

What started as a local stage play for Austin students has grown into a recognized ecosystem for youth wellness, collaboration, and community connection. Backed by organizations like the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health and trusted by school districts, Reggie Rap's Room transforms emotional wellness into relatable stories, vibrant characters, and creative expression.

With more than $352,500 in project funding raised, a growing audience of over 3,000 families, and multiple City of Austin cultural grants, we're expanding our reach from local stages to audiences across the country.

And we're just getting started.
